Joyeeta Gupta

Joyeeta Gupta (she/her)  is Distinguished Professor of Climate Justice, Sustainability and Global Justice (University of Amsterdam), and is also Professor of Environment and Development in the Global South and holds a water professorship at IHE-Delft Institute for Water Education. She is the co-chair (2024-2025) of the UN Secretary General Appointed Group of Ten High-level Representatives of Civil Society, Private Sector and Scientific Community to Promote Science, Technology and Innovation for the SDGs (10-Member-Group) – a component of the UN Technology Facilitation Mechanism. She is a Commissioner in the Global Commission on the Economics of Water andwas Co-chair of the first phase of the Earth Commission (2019-2024), convened by Future Earth and the Global Commons Alliance during which time 22 publications were achieved with a top publication in Nature and in Lancet Planetary Health. She was awarded the 2023 Spinoza Prize – the highest distinction in Dutch science and also called the ‘Dutch Nobel Prize’and was lead author of the Nobel Peace Prize winning report on climate change of the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC).

Nina M. Waals

Nina M. Waals (she/her) is a political scientist specializing in technology and governance. She is a PhD candidate at the University of Amsterdam, where she contributes to the Global Constitution Project, exploring the impact of emerging technologies on global governance and constitutionalism. Her research spans democratic theory, international law, and AI governance, with a focus on the role of technology in shaping political and legal frameworks. Nina holds an MA in Political Science from Columbia University, where she studied as a Fulbright Scholar, and a BSc in Political Science from Leiden University. She has conducted research on large language models in academic publishing at TU Delft and has held research positions at Leiden University and the Van Mierlo Stichting (D66). Beyond her work on technology and governance, she has conducted fieldwork in Morocco, where she explored the intersection of law, culture, and women’s rights, deepening her understanding of global justice and comparative legal systems. Her work examines the ethical, legal, and political implications of AI-driven decision-making in democratic processes and governance structure

Aljoscha Karg

Aljoscha Karg (he/him) is a PhD Candidate in the Project on a Global Constitution at the University of Amsterdam. His background is in International Relations, Economics and Development. He holds a MSc in International Development Studies from the University of Amsterdam and has studied in Chile, Germany and the Netherlands. His interdisciplinary PhD research explores different ways of governing the Anthropocene, focusing on social and environmental justice. He examines a diverse range of topics and equity issues such as global tax injustice, rising sovereign debt in the Global South, the climate crisis, democratic legitimacy, local action and effective international cooperation.

Georgios Dikaios

Georgios Dikaios (he/him) is a legal scholar from Athens, Greece. He holds a Bachelor’s degree in Law from the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens, as well as Master’s degrees in International Trade and Investment Law from the University of Amsterdam and European and Comparative Commercial Law from Humboldt Universität zu Berlin. His PhD research explores the relationship between National and International, as well as Private and Public law, to promote environmental sustainability and support the global green transition while safeguarding human rights. By integrating legal principles from different governance levels, his research aims to develop regulatory frameworks that balance economic development with environmental protection and social equity.

Valeria Cavallin

Valeria Cavallin (she/her), is a Italo-Peruvian professional with a Master’s Degree in International Security Studies from Charles University and a Bachelor in International Relations from University of Trento. Her research interests develop mainly on conflict studies related to social justice. She value an interdisciplinary approach in research, integrating insights from political science, sociology, and international relations and in the cooperation between academia and the institutional world. Her professional experience spans between academia, international institutions and local organisations. She aims to understand the complexities of global issues and advocate for sustainable and equitable solutions. Her work wants to reflect her commitment to fostering inclusive and intersectional dialogue and durable strategies for conflict resolution.
