“We as justice scholars really need to come up collectively to agree upon a shared vision of what justice is”

In the ninth episode of the Between Heat and Hope podcast, Prof. Joyeeta Gupta & Renske Natté explore the many dimensions of justice, and why incremental changes need to give way to transformative approaches that address the root causes of current injustices. While discussing guiding societal principles such as “no significant harm”, Prof. Gupta sends a clear and urgent call: to find a universal story that also resonates on the local scale, scholars need to reach a consensus around the definition of justice.

The conversation also raises important issues such as the justice implications of the 1.5°C limit and the diverse types of lock-ins, and conveys a mobilizing message: individuals hold immense power that needs to be channelled collectively to drive change.
