I’m writing a paper on why rules against students using the restroom during class are unfair. My three reasons: rules against students doing so are unfair to those who would not cause trouble, could lead to health complications, and are violating human rights. However, I’ve done a lot of research and cannot find exactly what the human rights are. Thanks in advance for your help.

if your in Canada, we have the Canadian charter of rights and freedoms. you could argue that s.9 of the charter which states that everyone had the right to not be arbitrarily detained or imprisoned. saying that keeping students in a classroom is being detained from being able to go and “answer the call of nature”. and if not go and serch for wrongful detainment or inprisonment. because technically they are keeping you inprisoned.
hope it helps.

that is just over-reaching. There are no such human rights. The rules exist to maintain order and provide a structured learning environment for everyone.
You would be better to stick to rhetoric that acknowledges a shared goal, while persuading that the current way of achieving the goal is not working.
